Hey,

Maybe you know the answer to my question.
I figured out that the drum module of the SD7k has a Roland tr 808 bass drum sound.
Could you explain the sound of this kick sound.
Is it only one simple kick without any reverb or humming, or is it (the sound where i am searching for) a bass hit with a sort of bass reverb. A bass humm.

http://www.synthmania.com/Famous%20Sounds/TR-808%20bass%20drum.mp3

I mean this bass drum sound. Just copy the link and click play. Just hope you could help me.

You have some nice vids!

An electronic drum set is like an acoustic kit in that it really depends on the person playing it. The Roland kit is top of the line and should last many years of constant playing. Like any mechanical device that you beat on with a stick, there will be issues of wear and tear. But as long as you take good care of it it should last a very long time. The brain is, of course, the most important part of the system. It is also the most fragile. There is an internal memory cache that uses a small lithium battery to retain volatile memory. In most cases this battery will last for the life of the unit but they do occasionally go bad after a while. If this happens then take it to your authorized Roland dealer and see if it can be replaced and the memory reloaded. It is most likely that if this ever does occur, it will be many years down the road and you will want to upgrade to the newest model then anyway.
The pads are very durable and aside from occasionally needing to replace the mesh head, you should have little trouble with the drums themselves. My roommate has the TD-6 kit with the mesh snare and rubber tom pads and cymbal pads. He has an extra bass drum pad and pedal to allow for double bass playing. We play in a band with a drummer who uses a full on acoustic kit but practices here with the electronic kit. He has a tendency to really play hard on this kit (as you would with an acoustic kit) and he sometimes complains about the occasional mis-trigger of the crash cymbal or the usual bass drum pedal adjustment (we are using a pair of standard chain drive pedals from groove percussion) He will be the first to tell you that it is a completely different experience playing on the electronic kit compared to his beloved acoustic kit but he has no problem adjusting to it and he really digs the high quality sounds and ability to play many different types of percussion. My roommate has had this kit for about 5 years and we have had no real problems with it, except for the occasional bad cable or busted mesh head. All in all, I am very impressed with it's performance and durability, and I would recommend it to any one interested in electronic drums
References :
G.I.T. graduate 30+ years playing/teaching
