I’ve just been hooked on playing the drums, but because of my living situations an acoustic drum sit is just too loud, so I figure why not go for the electric. However, my funds aren’t exactly bottomless and I don’t really know what price is considered cheap when it comes to this. So, any help, recommendations, tips, anything, would be great. Thanks.
well you got one thing right; electric drums are $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. it sucks for us, since i too live in an apartment. you can prolly find a decent set for 1500 new. ive found some very nice sets for 2000 used, where those same sets are around 4000 used. the rolands with the mesh heads ive found are the best. they respond most like an acoustic drum. those ones with the solid rubber pads dont feel much like a real set, but they work nonetheless.
i would suggest buying used, if money is an issue (which is usually is). if you can afford up to 2 grand, id say try to find a nicer set for used, instead of going with a cheaper new set. you will be happier in the long run.
hope this gets you started. feel free to email with more specific questions.

Can you perform the same rhythms on an electric drum set than on an acoustic set?
Author: admin // Category: Electric Drum Seti have a trashy little "starter" drumset i’ve had for about 5 years i bought from costco.
i want to move up to something better but i want electric because of the noise in my house from my acoustic.
my main issue is whether or not i can still incorporate rolls into my beat and if the electric pads have a similar amount of stiffness so i can roll.
newer electronic drumsets are able to pic up rols from you sticks, but electronics may not play every note or may play random notes from my experiance. but other than that its just like playing a regular drum kit. just test it out before you buy one

Should i get an acoustic or an electric drum set?
Author: admin // Category: Electric Drum Seti just barely have enough space for an acoustic but my house has thin walls so i would have to put acoustic foam thus making it more expensive, an electric set is quiet but does not really have the feel of an acoustic set? what should i get?
I’d definitely go with acoustic, all the way. Acoustic drum sets require working your muscles and putting your body INTO the drums, whereas all you have to do to get a sound on an electric drumset is tap. Playing on an acoustic set will train you to get the different sounds out of the drums, based on where you hit and how hard. You will become a much better musician on an acoustic drumset. Hopefull your family will understand. Good luck!!!
