Well if you aren’t following me on twitter you won’t know this… I decided to re-buy GHWT and GHSH because i wanted to drum on the GH games. I got a new guitar as well so now I have a working guitar yay! So give me requests to drum or guitar on GHWT and GHSH. Also I pre-ordered GH5 so I’ll go get it tomorrow (: Also I didn’t have a latop when I did this so I had to use a camera to film the tv and the drums.

Alright, this is my set up in Rock Band right now with a demonstration of playing with the amp on. It’s very unclean and actually my hihat and ride cymbals are mixed too low so you can hardly hear them. Neither the drums nor cymbals (the pads…that clicking sound) are quite as loud as they sound in the video. I guess the camera microphone just decided to pick them up over everything else.
Since I recorded this, I’ve changed the volume levels on both of those cymbals so if I ever upload anything else it should be a lot better sounding. Also, my skills aren’t the best and that isn’t the best I can do at that song at all so if you would refrain from “you suck” comments that would be appreciated, just trying to demonstrate something for anyone curious.
My equipment is an Ion drum rocker with the 2 bundled cymbals, plus a DM5 wedge cymbal.
Rock Pedal with Yamaha KP-65
Alesis DM5 drum module
SethmeisterG’s edrum to USB adapter.
I would highly recommend the adapter to anyone that already has an e-kit and enjoys drumming on Rock Band. I have it set up so that it has never in my experience dropped a note. Initially there was some overhitting, adjusted that in my module and I was good to go. (Can also be adjusted via the adapter)
Any questions, just ask and I’m happy to share. Hopefully I’ll be getting better and having more videos to upload. Blockhead microphone review soon I’m hoping.

Now, I know it can be used for Rock Band as well, but is it decent for an electronic drum set for a beginner? It has to be electronic so acoustics are out of the question and the price has to be around 300 dollars.
The Rock Band Ion Drums are definitely a good beginner drum set. When you get better you should try the real drums. You might like them even more.

Bass drums are a bit distorted on the crappy cam mic but other than that doesnt sound too bad, one take, probably a few mistakes.

I know I haven’t done one of these in a while, but I might make a couple more.
Q & A:
1. Q: What’s up with your kit? Is it modded?
A: Well, no… It is very simple to hook up this setup. All it takes is a Guitar Hero: World Tour drum kit, an electronic drum kit, a MIDI cable, and some changes to the MIDI settings on the electronic drum kit.
2. Q: What drum kit is this?
A: This is a Roland TD-9KX series V-Drum kit
3: Q: How much did it cost?
A: I got the kit for $2500, then I had to buy the stand for the kit (Roland MDS-9 Stand), which was around $300-$400, then I had to buy a bass pedal for the kit (I got a Gibraltar Intruder Series Double-Chain Drive Double Bass Pedal) which was around $250, and finally, I had to buy a throne for it (Gibraltar Hydraulic Throne), which was (a guesstimate) about $150. All-in-all about $3000-$3200
4. Q: Holy crap, you bought a $3000 kit just for Rock Band?! Wow, what a waste…
A: Actually I bought the kit back when i had Rock Band 1 about a year ago. But I never thought to mod the kit so I could use it for Rock Band alone… Now that WOULD be a waste. Even though Rock Band got the ball rolling for me to start playing drums, I would’ve NEVER bought a $3000 kit just for Rock Band.
5. Q: How long have you been playing drums?
A: About a year now… Wow, when I look back at when I played a year ago, and brought it to today… I realize how much I have improved! I used to not even be able to keep a beat. Now some of the hardest beats for my friends are some of the easiest beats for me lol!
6. Q: What do you use to capture your screen?
A: I use a Dazzle DVC100 Video Capture Device with Pinnacle Studio 12.
7. Q: What do you use to edit your videos?
A: Sony Vegas Pro 8.0
8. Q: What is your gamertag?
A: Minime220220
9. Q: Why use a different setting this time? You know, the full kit instead of the simple 5 trigger setup? I know the obvious answer is for fun, but is there anything else?
A: Well I like to show that rhythm games like these are charted to where a person with a full electronic drum kit (such as myself) can play every note as it’s charted and make it sound like the actual drums in the song. And yes, it is a lot of fun

IMPORTANT READ THIS !! i DO have an ACOUSTIC KIT !! and electrics are not easy to play !! i feel better with the dynamics and comfort and bounce of an ACOUSTIC KIT !! electric kits are HARD to play infact…!! my acoustic is a TRANSPARENT ACRYLIC DOUBLE BASS MONSTER WITH 10 ZILDJIANS…but its in another country and im living in london these days..with space and noise issues…therefore i have an electric kit !! if u think the sounds of the kit sucks in this song then watch my CHOP SUEY video…ive changed the settings and tones and levels alot and improved it… this was my FIRST home video ever !
it recorder directly from my electronic yamaha dtxpress 2 kits onto my jvc everio gz-mg575 camcorder through the mic microphone input.
