So i am lookin to buy a decent electric kit that is now a toy for a low price. I have been drumming for 2 years and i am not a begginer. I found a set called The Singing Machine Smi-1458 does anyone know the quality of it and the features
I do have an acoustic kit i want one because of not having to play because of neighbors you know

i would agree that electric kits can be kind of high maintenance and confusing at times but in my opinion i think they’re great. alot of the pre-programmed tracks on the sound module are great to play with and really good for practicing different styles of music. at church i play on a roland v-kit which i absolutely love but yamaha also makes a really great set of electric drums that i think maybe a little more economical. and if your worried about not being able to add cymbals, toms ect. you can. that one guy doesnt know what he is talking about. also your best bet in terms of picking one out is to go to your local music store and choose your favorite. make sure to invest a proper amount of time into understanding the sound module. overall i would definately suggest getting one.

I am looking to buy a roland electronic practice snare drum. my budget is under 90 dollars. it does not have to be brand new or anything. Can u please help me? thank you very much.

If it is for practice why not just use a practice pad, you don’t need it to be amplified just to work on stick control, etc. I would recommend this Evans practice pad at $50.00, the Roland rhythm coach sells for almost $300 so I doubt that you will find a used one for $90.

Let’s be honest…I want my 6 year old to explore his interest in drums. And I think the bit I’ve heard him "play" in the past is cute. But I know that 3 weeks into us owning a drum set, I’d be ready to throw it out the window because of the noise. What are the pros and cons of a child learning to play on an electronic set vs. an acoustic set? If we put aside the "purity" of the sound of an acoustic set, what else is there? Would a person that learns on an electronic set have a hard time in the future adapting to an acoustic set? Also, aside from the industry standards (Roland, Yamaha, maybe Hart?), are there any reliable manufacturers? I see lots of stuff on e-bay from "Borgi", "Lloyd Audio", "OSP - Sigler Music Centers", etc. - ever heard of these? Finally, are the sound modules interchangable? For example, if I bought a Yamaha set, could I plug in a Roland sound module? If so, would it make a difference? Thanks much to anyone that takes the time to answer these questions!

If you can afford electronic, go with it. Headphones are awesome. By the time he gets old enough to gig, wooden drums will probably be relics.

I don’t think the sound modules are interchangeable, and I do know that the electronics are not everlasting. Brass cymbals are very breakable, and tuning a conventional drum set can be a real challenge.

We are going to mic the guitars from the amps, but were wondering seeming i will have an electric kit, if i could just line it straight in to the PA, i think it should be fine but if someone who definately knows or has experience could help that would be brilliant. Thanks in advance.

An electric kit should be fine plugged straight into the P.A. system. However, you have to consider your on-stage sound. You will either need to hear the drums via monitors or plug the kit into an amp/speaker set up on stage and then DI (direct inject) that to the PA.
