Is there a big difference in playing an electric drum kit, to a regular one?

Author: admin  //  Category: Electric Drum Kits

I really want to start playing drums a college, but cannot get myself a kit because of the noise at home! it really is a problem… and I know electric kits have headphones, which would help me out alot!

But I'm worried if I start getting use to it, and rehears all my tunes on the electric… will it effect my playing once I get onto the kits at college? Because they're not electric….

Just curious if it's basically worth it or not!
Thanks.
I'm talking about playing wise!
obviously i know the difference between electric and acoustic, but thats not what im asking.

Electric kits are only good for techno and practicing the motions. The difference is huge! There are a number of ways you can hit a drum for different sounds, but only 1 way to hit a pad. If you want to practice the basic motions, I say go for it. Otherwise, join the band at school and use theirs.

Is it possible to use an amplifier normally used for an electric guitar, for an electric drum kit?

Author: admin  //  Category: Electric Drum

I have an electric Yamaha drum kit, and I want to find out if I can use an amplifier used for an electric guitar on my drum kit instead.

Yes, you can, but depending on how your amp is wired, you may want to be careful of which impedance input you use. Most line level devices are at a +4 level.

I have a set of V-Drums that I use through a guitar cab, and the only complaint I have is that you will only be able to use one chanel as an output, resulting in mono sound. If you have any panning effects on your drums, you will not be able to hear them properly. Take care to ensure that your cymbals and toms are not panned across the stereo field, or you will lose the ones assigned to the output you are not using.

Hope this helps!

I have an Alesis DM5 electronic drum kit. What would be a good and cheap amplifier for me. I am currently using headphones but I want to record the music on my computer. How do I do this or what amplifier do I need?

Will my amp work with my electric drum set?

Author: admin  //  Category: Electric Drum Set

I have an 8" 15W Fender amp. I was thinking about getting an Alesis DM5 Pro electronic drum set. Will this amp work ok with this drum set?

I would have thought so. The kit should have something like a 1/4" output that you can plug into your amp with a cable. Probably won't be the best sound though.
