I’ve never played Rock Band video game, but I found this game is interesting by watching this video. I am pretty surprised that you can actually play an actual electric drum set for Rock Band 2 video game. The kid in this video was playing Rock Band 2 with an actual Roland TD3 V-Drums kit.

Electric drum set was firstly introduced in the late 70’s or early 80’s during the disco era. Today, the electric drum set is being use widely for all kinds of music; jazz, pop, rock, etc. However, many still criticize electric drum sets due to their lack of feeling and unnatural look. But wait! Let’s talk about what an electric drum set can offer you ….
More sounds variety
If you are using an acoustic drum set at home, you will have the original feeling and natural sound from your drum, that’s true! However, it is the only sound. An electric drum set is a better solution for practicing varied musical styles (i.e. Metal, Classic Rock, Jazz, Punk) since it has lots of sounds installed in it.
Great sound quality
The sound that you get from an electric drum set is comparable to acoustic drum set. For my money, an electric drum set has a better sounding drum than the acoustic drum set. Note for beginner: you don’t even need to worry about how to tune your drum set to get a perfect sound!
Portable
Electric drum set is very light which makes it easy to move or transport it from one place to another. This feature makes it possible to practice drum wherever you want.
No complaint from your neighborhood
An Electric drum set also makes it possible to practice drum whenever you want without offending your family or neighbors. Just plug in your headphones, crank it up to the maximum volume, no one would say a word to you …

By the way, a couple weeks ago, I was visiting a couple of local music stores, searching for books that might be useful for my blog reader. I’ve bought some books that I think are pretty descent, but this one blew me away; the “All about Electronic Percussion” book.
It covers the introductions to drum pads and triggers, percussion sound modules, and it provides helpful “how-to” sections which guide the newcomer through the process of setting up electronic percussion systems, it also explains the MIDI technology for you.
This book is a “must have” for drummers who is serious to learn more about electric drum set.
